Consider donating to Boosters Projects. These projects have included replacing the sound system in both the Mustang Gym and the stadium, purchasing lacrosse safety nets and a baseball batting practice cage all in partnership with the athletic department, as well as paying down the loan on the baseball and softball lights. In addition, the Boosters provide coach apparel each season to ensure that our coaches look professional at our sporting events.

The Jack Gambill Scholarship

Two $1,000 Jack Gambill Scholarships are awarded each year — one each to a male and female senior athlete who participated in sports for four years and demonstrated leadership qualities. Jack Gambill was a George Mason football and baseball coach and GMHS athletic director from 1985 to 1994. His baseball teams went 252-70-2 from 1963 to 1985, winning or sharing 11 district titles, three regional titles and the Virginia AA state championship in 1980. This award is presented to the graduating seniors that will be remembered as the outstanding senior student-athletes in this class. The committee bases its decision on the outstanding athletic accomplishments and recognitions earned by these athletes as well as their overall contribution to the program’s and team’s success. Leadership qualities, character, and commitment to achieving athletic excellence are the deciding factors.

 The Arnold Siegfried Memorial Scholarship

Two $1,000 Arnold Siegfried Memorial Scholarships are awarded each year — one each to a male and female senior athlete who has attained a GPA of 3.25 and displayed good athletic ability. Arnold Siegfried was  GMHS athletic director from 1970 to 1985 as well as a boys' varsity basketball coach. This award is presented to the graduating seniors that exemplify the term student-athlete. The committee bases its decision on the outstanding academic record of a varsity athlete that also excels on the fields, or courts, service to the school and community, and participation in other activities.

The Al Krueger Scholarship

Two $1,000 Al Krueger Scholarships are awarded each year — one each to a male and female senior athlete in an individual performance sport (golf, cross country, swimming, wrestling, tennis, or track and field) who exhibited outstanding athletic achievement. Al Krueger taught at GMHS from 1970 to 1998 and was the boy’s varsity tennis coach for many years. His teams won seven state championships. The committee bases its decision on the display of good character, sportsmanship, competitive spirit and enthusiasm. The winners will have achieved excellence in an individual sport and demonstrated valuable leadership qualities on their teams.

The Athletic Department and Athletic Boosters Association at George Mason High School (now Meridian High School), together with the Lubnow family, are pleased to announce that "The Judy Lubnow Mustang Spirit and Service Scholarship" is being renamed as "The Judy Lubnow Champion of Character Award." Several years ago, the Athletic Department aligned itself with the NAIA Champions of Character program that focuses on the qualities of: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship and Leadership, and recognizes one student-athlete from each team per season that best demonstrates these qualities. These elements of character were also represented in Judy's life and in the scholarship funded by her family and friends in her honor. Our decision to rename the scholarship brings increased attention and commitment to the goal of the Athletic Department to emphasize development and demonstration of character both on and off the field. 

Any student that is awarded the Champion of Character Award at any point during their time at Mason will be considered among the finalists during their senior year for a $1000/year, 4 year renewable scholarship funded in Judy's honor. Donations can be made here or by check written to "Mustang Athletic Boosters Association" with a note designating the contribution to the "Judy Lubnow Scholarship."

The Bill Rose Athlete Assistance Fund was established in memory of long time GMHS Athletic Booster, Bill Rose, who passed away in January 2007. Based on Bill's belief that students of all backgrounds should compete on a level playing field, the Fund is designed to ensure that young athletes from economically disadvantaged families receive any needed assistance to participate and succeed in Varsity and Junior Varsity sports at George Mason HS (recently renamed as Meridian HS).  The Rose Family furnished $25,000 to the Boosters for this purpose. In addition, as stewards of this mission, the Boosters are accepting contributions to the Fund.

Consistent with Bill Rose's wishes, the Fund may be used:

• To furnish any personal sports equipment, gear, or apparel that is involved in participating in high school athletics but is not provided or entirely funded by the school;
• To enable eligible individuals to attend required team camps, training sessions, or showcase events that might otherwise be unaffordable (e.g., tuition and other expenses, such as travel and lodging);
• For books, videos, or training aids;
• For physicals or insurance required to participate in sports and for personal health aids such as ankle braces; and 
• For expenses pertaining to athletes involved in the college athletic recruitment process (e.g., video production and related expenses).

This memorial will provide funds to football athletes who may not be able to participate fully without financial support. The Philip Bandy Memorial Football Fund was established in memory of a longtime supporter of Mustang Athletics, Phillip Bandy who passed away in 2026.
